New Album Reviews

I haven't made an album review on this site for a little while now. The thing is, I need suggestions. It doesn't matter what genre it is, just let me know what album you think I should review. Post a comment below, and I will post the album review up here soon!

It must be an album that has just recently come out, or one that will be coming out in the near future.

Thanks!

First Impressions: Downtown Battle Mountain 2

This is a new thing that I'm going to start doing. After I get a new album, I will listen to it all the way through, and give my first impressions on it, before I post a detailed review on it.

Downtown Battle Mountain 2 is a legit album! It comes with eleven tracks, however, the Hot Topic exclusive version comes with an additional two songs entitled, "People You Knew" and "Perfect".

After listening to this album one time through completely, I truly could not get enough of it! It is a perfect sequel to "Downtown Battle Mountain" and it is what Dance Gavin Dance fans have been waiting for! Solid album, great music, amazing vocals. This album presents the perfect package. That's all I have to say about that for now. Detailed Album review coming soon!!!!!

New Album Review Coming Soon!

So, as you know, I have not posted any album reviews up here in a while. I've kinda fallen away from this blog, but I will be posting an Album Review next week!
I have been stoked to listen to the new Dance Gavin Dance album. It will be coming out on March 8, and this will be the next album that I review.

Despite the scam that Jonny Craig was recently involved with, he is an amazing musician and I am looking forward to this new record.

I'll be getting "Downtown Battle Mountain pt. II" when it's released, listen to it for about a week, and post my feelings about it right here.

Get Stoked!

Emarosa's New Self-Titled Album

Emarosa is a six-piece post-hardcore band from Lexington, Kentucky. They formed in 2006 and signed to Rise Records. Shortly after Jonny Craig left the post-hardcore band, Dance Gavin Dance, he tried out for Emarosa, and is now the band’s current lead singer.

Emarosa’s self-titled album hit stores on June 29, 2010. This was their second studio album, and it was produced by Brian McTernan, who has done work with bands such as Thrice, Circa Survive, and Sky Eats Airplane. I got this album a little while ago, and I think that it is pretty awesome! Most of the songs are soft, which is what I love. They have a few songs off this album that are featured on the band’s MySpace page. Check ‘em out!

Track Listing:
 1. “A Toast to the Future Kids!”
 2. “Pretend.Relive.Regret”
 3. “Share the Sunshine Young Blood”
 4. “Truth Hurts While Laying on Your Back”
 5. “Live It. Love It. Lust It”
 6. “The Game Played Right”
 7. “Broken vs. the Way We Were Born”
 8. “I Still Feel Her Pt. 4”
 9. “The Weight of Love Blind Eyes”
10. “We Are Life”

Rating: I give this album a 7/10

Emarosa showed much improvement from their last album, “Relativity”. Jonny Craig’s vocal range is just simply amazing! The only problem I had with this album, was that it was just a bit repetitive.

Parkway Drive, "Deep Blue"

Parkway Drive is a five-piece Australian metalcore band from Byron Bay, New South Wales. They are currently signed with Epitaph Records. The band's new album, "Deep Blue" hit stores on June 29, 2010. This album has been in production for the past three years, and fans have been waiting for this album to come out for a very long time.

Deep Blue is a very unique album, one that I typically do not hear very often. It is by far the 'heaviest' album that I have ever heard. To be perfectly honest, I was never a fan of Parkway Drive, but Deep Blue changed that for me! I now have absolute respect for this band. For those with soft ears, this album is NOT for you. Deep Blue contains nothing but screaming lyrics, unlike bands such as, The Devil Wears Prada, and Attack Attack! that have both singing and screaming. Check out their MySpace!

MySpace

Track Listing:
1. "Samsara"
2. "Unrest"
3. "Sleepwalker"
4. "Wreckage"
5. "Deadweight"
6. "Alone"
7. "Pressures"
8. "Deliver Me"
9. "Karma"
10. "Home Is For The Heartless" (featuring Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion)
11. "Hollow" (featuring Marshall Lichtenwaldt of The Warriors)
12. "Leviathan I"
13. "Set to Destroy"

Rating: I give this album a 10/10

This is now one of my favorite albums of all time. The only thing that I didn't like about this album, is when it ended. This is a brilliant piece of art, and will be the "gold standard" among groups similar to Parkway Drive. They did a phenomenal job putting this album together!

Attack Attack!

Not to get confused with the Welsh band, Attack! Attack! (with two exclamation marks), Attack Attack! is a hardcore band from Westerville, Ohio. They are currently signed to Rise Records (Dance Gavin Dance, In Fear and Faith). They're albums contain Christian-based lyrics, however they do not claim to be a Christian band.

Attack Attack!'s new self titled album came out on June 8, 2010; I got this album the day it came out, and have not stopped listening to it since! This is the first album recorded with the new singer, Caleb Shomo after the departure of Austin Carlile. This is one of the most unique albums I have heard in a long time. The majority of the songs are dark, much darker than they're previous album, Someday Came Suddenly. The song, "Lonely" featuring Jason Cameron of Bury Tomorrow is a soft song, and is the only one on the album that contains no screaming vocals. The song "Shut Your Mouth" is an electro song featuring McSwagger. There is a lot of techno, and piano that is used throughout most of the songs, but the main vibe I got from this album was very dark and heavy.

MySpace

Track Listing:
1. "Sexual Man Chocolate"
2. "Renob, Nevada"
3. "I Swear I'll Change"
4. "Shut Your Mouth"
5. "A for Andrew"
6. "Smokahontas"
7. "AC-130"
8. "Fumbles O'Brian"
9. "Turbo Swag"
10. "Lonely"

Rating: I give this album an 8/10.

It was a very well constructed album, with songs that just make you say, woah! It is diverse in that it is not your typical hardcore album; It contains techno/almost hip hop, and soft lyrics throughout. However, I think they could have done a better job with it, but for what it's worth, it is a great album!
